Our Community Based Mentors and Mentees continue their “getting together” based on their individual comfort level. All parties must agree with the form of their contact. Many matches are skyping and having virtual meetings. Other match members are seeing each other while wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing. All interviews taking place after an Inquiry are being done by staff, virtually.
As the new school year begins, we are working to ensure site base matches will be supported this fall. Michelle and Alyson have been calling our volunteers, youth, and parents to determine the best form of virtual mentoring as we plan for the new school year. We still need to hear from some parents regarding your meeting preferences and your child’s access to virtual devices so contact from their mentor can be maintained. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 517-546-1140.
We also wanted to let you know we are planning ahead to maintain the relationships of our mentors and mentees. Times are tough and many of our supporters are feeling economic challenges. Since we are dependent on donors, grants, contributions, and fundraisers to meet our budget, we made the decision to close our office and have staff work from home. Although this is not ideal, the pandemic taught us we can make it work; and our kids are worth it.
Our staff is back and focusing on our ability to adapt to each school district’s changing operating model. We know this is a difficult time for everyone. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out; we will do our best to support you.
